Nissan Micra, the long awaited compact car in India, will soon be running on the Indian roads as the company has started the bookings of this model in the country. Form today onwards, the Micra model will be on display in company's showroom all across India and to book the car, customers have to pay a booking amount of INR 50,000 initially. The car will be launched in July this year, after which the company will start the delivery of this car to the customers. Nissan has already initiated the export of this car from India, by shipping-out six Micra cars as test consignment from Chennai port, last month.
The company has announced that it has started the commercial-manufacturing of Micra model in India at its Chennai facility and to keep its cost as low as possible in Indian market the company is using about 85% localise content in the production of this car. Nissan is aiming to establish the Micra model as its flagship compact car in foreign markets like Europe, Middle East and Africa, by exporting it from India.
With this, the company has started its soft marketing initiative called 'exposure marketing' to spread brand awareness and seek insights from potential buyers of Micra. Nissan has constructed its special pavilions with LCD display kiosks and shoppers, at high marketing areas like shopping malls in different cities across the country. The initial marketing activities that started in Pune and Bangalore on May 5, will continue till December 2010.
